Rafting on the Humber River
What better escape into the wilderness than to float down the lower Humber River in your very own white water raft! The Humber River stretches for 120 km and is the largest Atlantic salmon producing river in Western Newfoundland. Your journey down this mighty river begins with a leisurely float through the gradual twists and turns of the river valley. As you gently float along, you can enjoy the tranquil scenery and get up close and personal with the surrounding geology and wildlife of this unique region.
The immense volumes of cool pure water will soon carry you towards the faster moving rapids of the Humber River. With the naturally carved face of the “Man in the Mountain” looming in the cliffs overhead, the white water will push and bounce you along for a swift, exciting ride that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
As the river widens, you can relax as the water gently carries you for another 1 kilometre float towards the end of the Humber River.
Groups range from as small as three and as large as twelve. You can solo your journey down the river, or tie the rafts together and enjoy the adventure with a friend or two.
Rock Climbing/Abseiling
Why keep your two feet planted on the ground when you can test your strength, endurance, balance, and agility while scaling up and across natural rock formations? You will soon discover that Rock Climbing can be one of the most rewarding and exhilarating natural rushes you will ever experience.
Once you reach your vertical destination you can breathe in the crisp clean Newfoundland air while enjoying the picturesque views of the Humber Valley. Your journey doesn’t end once you reach the summit; once at the peak, prepare yourself for a thrilling rappel back down to the mountain base where your adventure began. You can choose to concur the mountain again by taking the same route and attempting to beat your initial time to the top, or you can challenge yourself even further by choosing a more difficult pathway to the summit.
On each session, our climbing instructors will focus on teaching you the techniques required to help develop the skills and confidence and help get you to the top and back down again in a safe, controlled, and exciting environment.
Adventure Caving/Spelunking
This is your opportunity to step into the mysterious underground world of the Corner Brook caves! Your journey will begin with a pleasant walk though Newfoundland’s dense boreal forest passing by the native flora and fauna on your way to your subterranean destination.
This tour provides you with an introduction to the world of caving with a series of climbing, crawling and squeezing trough the cave system’s slippery limestone walls. With the light of your headlamps to help steer your way through the darkness, our guides will lead through the large upper and lower chambers, narrow crevices and twisting passageways of the caves, which were etched and sculptured over thousands of years.
If you are craving a little extra adrenalin on your tour, we provide you with the option to abseil down towards the cool pristine waters of the cave system’s underground river. Turn off your headlamps and experience the sight of pure darkness, and listen to the sounds of water gently dripping from the cave ceiling and the echoes of the river rushing in the distance.
This tour caters to a variety of age and fitness levels, and promises to not disappoint!
